According to Eurostat, in the first half of this year, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Latvia were among the EU countries most dependent on imports of petroleum products. Malta became the leader in this list, where imports are six times higher than domestic needs — 622%. The Netherlands, with an indicator of 304%, Slovenia — 210%, and Latvia — 133% are also among the countries with high dependence on imports of petroleum products. Estonia also shows significant dependence — 125%. More than half of their oil product needs are covered by imports from countries such as Denmark (90%), Ireland (87%), Slovakia (76%), Sweden (74%) and Finland (62%). Italy and Lithuania have the least dependence — about 25%. In general, the average dependence of EU countries on imports of petroleum products in the first half of the year increased to 64.9%, which is 1.1% higher than in the same period last year.
