China sets new records in the field of solar energy

In May, China set record capacities in the field of renewable energy, increasing the potential of wind and solar power plants to a level comparable to the amount of electricity produced in Poland. The rapid development of green energy infrastructure allows the world's second largest economy to demonstrate impressive growth rates in this sector.

According to Lauri Millivirta, a senior researcher at the Asian Society Policy Institute, 93 GW of solar capacity was installed in China last month alone. This is equivalent to almost 100 solar panels placed every second. Additionally, the country has increased its wind energy potential by 26 GW, which corresponds to approximately 5,300 new turbines.

Although the actual amount of energy produced depends on factors such as geographical location and climatic conditions, the analysis showed that only the May installations are capable of generating electricity comparable to the annual consumption of countries such as Poland, Sweden or the UAE. 

In the first five months of the year, China significantly strengthened its position in the field of renewable energy, adding 198 GW of solar and 46 GW of wind capacity. These indicators make it possible to generate electricity on a scale comparable to the energy consumption of Indonesia or Turkey.
