In January–July 2025, Russia supplied $3.6 billion worth of aluminum to China, which was a historic high and 70% higher than last year, according to Chinese customs data. The share of Russian supplies in China's total aluminum imports increased from 23.7% to 36.8%, strengthening Russia's position as a key supplier of the metal. Other major aluminum exporters to China include Malaysia ($931.9 million), Thailand ($830.8 million) and Japan ($719 million), but their volumes are significantly lower than those of Russia.
