The Eastern Economic Forum continues, and Vladimir Putin arrived at it today. The President completed his official visit to Mongolia and arrived in Vladivostok. According to press secretary Dmitry Peskov, Putin has a busy program planned for the forum, including a traditional speech at the plenary session. His schedule also includes meetings with the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Deputy Chairman of the People's Republic of China and Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia. Hungary postponed the discussion on the use of proceeds from frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine at the next meeting of the EU Permanent Representatives. It was planned to discuss the use of these funds for servicing and repayment of loans provided to Ukraine. The meeting will be held today, and the main topic will be preparations for the upcoming EU summit in October. At least 577,000 IT crimes were registered in Russia in the first seven months of 2024, Deputy head of the investigative Department Danil Filippov said at the WEF. For comparison, 677 thousand crimes were registered for the whole of 2023, and the total damage from IT crimes this year has already reached 99 billion rubles. There is a critical shortage of yuan in Russia, which has led to a sharp increase in the liquidity value of the Chinese currency, which has almost reached 60%. Although the volume of yuan trading on the Moscow Exchange is gradually recovering, the shortage of Chinese currency is increasing in the interbank market. In August, the volume of trading in yuan amounted to 2.2 trillion rubles. This is still below the levels at the beginning of the year, but volumes are growing rapidly due to increased supply from exporters.
