According to the US Department of Labor, unemployment in May rose to 3.7% from April's level of 3.4%, and the number of people employed in non-agricultural sectors of the economy increased by 339 thousand. Analysts assumed that unemployment rose last month to 3.5%, and the increase in the number of jobs amounted to 190 thousand. At the same time, the Ministry revised the estimate of the growth in the number of people employed in non-agricultural sectors of the economy in April, increasing the figure from 253 thousand to 294 thousand. It is also reported that hourly wages in the country for May increased by 0.3%, or $ 0.11, and amounted to $33.44. In annual terms, its growth was 4.3%. Recall that unemployment in the United States reached double digits in April 2020, when it jumped to 14.8% due to coronavirus events and updated the maximum since 1940. In March 2020, the indicator was recorded at 4.4%.
