Россия возместит Боснии и Герцеговине советский долг, закрыв тем самым последнюю внешнюю задолженность СССР. Страны заключили межправительственное соглашение о регулировании денежных обязательств. Это соглашение предполагает пересчет всей суммы займа в доллары США по курсу 2003 года. Сумма внешних заимствований, в результате пересчета, равняется $125,2 млн. Согласно договоренности, вся сумма должна быть перечислена единым платежом в срок, не превышающий 45 календарных дней. 

Напомним, что денежные обязательства СССР перед остальными странами бывшей СФРЮ (Хорватией, Сербией, Черногорией, Словенией и Македонией) были ликвидированы Российской Федерацией в период с 2011 по 2016 гг. К тому моменту долги Советского Союза составляли порядка $80,2 млрд. Босния и Герцеговина оставалась последней страной из числа кредиторов СССР с непогашенной задолженностью.
