On Wednesday, US stock indexes are declining before the announcement of the results of the meeting of the US Federal Reserve System. Thus, futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Index (DJIA) fell by 0.12% to 34346 points, futures for the NASDAQ high-tech index – by 0.23% to 11930.75 points, for the S&P 500 broad market index – by 0.17% to 4048.75 points. As you know, on Wednesday evening the Fed will publish its decision on monetary policy. Most analysts believe that the regulator will raise the discount rate by 50 basis points. At the same time, after the release of yesterday's inflation data in the US, which turned out to be more positive, investors' opinions have changed somewhat. Now the probability that the central bank will raise the rate by only 25 bps has increased from 35.1% to 58.1%. After the publication of the regulator's decision, a conference of the head of the regulator Jerome Powell will take place. Analysts note that softer-than-expected statistics on inflation in the United States sent stocks up and the dollar down. However, futures failed to overcome key resistance levels, as investors fear that Powell may disappoint market participants at his press conference today.
