Apple has announced that from 2024 it plans to start producing and using its own custom displays for installation on its devices. The first device to receive new screens may be the Apple Watch Ultra. Next, the company intends to equip iPhone smartphones with displays of its own production. The new screens will use a technology known as MicroLED, which will be an improved version of the current OLED standard. The company's experts note that this will give Apple more control over the design and capabilities of new products. Moreover, the use of its own products will allow Apple to reduce the company's dependence on suppliers such as LG Display, whose shares fell by more than 2% in the premarket on the background of this news, and Samsung. Apple customers will also benefit from these innovations. The new displays should become brighter, look better at an angle, and the content will be depicted «as if on the surface of glass.»
