Analysts at the Goldman Sachs Group bank predict that the American S&P 500 stock index may reach 6,000 points by the end of 2024 if the largest companies in the IT sector continue to grow. This is the bank's optimistic scenario. A slightly less optimistic forecast suggests a rise in the S&P 500 to 5,800 points if the quotes of other companies in the American market can catch up with the leading players in the field of information technology. To implement this scenario, it will be necessary to «change forecasts regarding interest rates in the United States in the absence of a deterioration in the economic situation.» The base scenario of Goldman Sachs assumes the end of the year with the index at the level of 5,200 points, which is lower than the closing level of last week, when the index was 5,234.18 points. In the end, the bank's negative scenario assumes that large IT companies will not meet market expectations, which will lead to a drop in the entire market. In this case, the S&P 500 could fall to 4,500 points by the end of the year.
