Experts note that the European Commission has found no evidence of Russia's guilt in the cosmic increase in gas prices in Europe, while the pursuit of green energy in the region strongly affects the rise in fuel prices. Earlier, Poland, which opposes Nord Stream-2, appealed to the EC to check Gazprom's activities for signs of market manipulation for financial and political gain. After a number of inspections, Brussels announced a lack of data to bring any charges against Moscow. Analysts believe that the reason for the problems with gas was not so much Russia's actions as the discord within the European Union itself. The fact is that Brussels has decided to abandon state support for the sector of fossil fuels that pollute the environment. The only exceptions will be those projects that will be useful when Europe gradually abandons coal. At the same time, different European countries also had different views on ways to replace non-ecological energy sources, which divided the European Union into at least two parts. For example, France is in favor of nuclear energy, and Germany is against it. As you know, gas has been gradually getting more expensive since the second half of spring this year, but since autumn, quotations have risen sharply to record levels above $2,000. Experts also attributed the sharp jumps to the low level of occupancy of European underground storage facilities, a reduction in supply from major suppliers and high demand for LNG in Asia.
