According to the data of the SWIFT interbank system, the share of the dollar in international settlements at the end of January showed the lowest value since February last year, and the share of the yuan — since October 2021. In particular, according to the results of the first month of the year, the «American» accounted for 40.12% of international settlements. This value is less than the current one was recorded in February 2022: then this figure was 38.85%. And compared to December, the dollar sank by 1.77 percentage points. The share of the yuan also decreased compared to the end of last year: the Chinese currency lost 0.24 percentage points, dropping to 1.91%. An even smaller value was recorded in October 2021: then the Chinese currency accounted for 1.85% of international settlements. Experts note that the share of the euro, on the contrary, showed positive dynamics: over the month, this indicator increased by 1.54 percentage points to 37.88%. According to SWIFT, this was the highest since October 2021 — then the «European» accounted for 38.07%.
