After the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Russia on March 20, we can safely say that economic cooperation between Russia and China has been further developed. The parties confirmed the achievements at the level of bilateral cooperation, including political and economic, and indicated the directions in the future. In addition, some problems in economic cooperation were also identified, in particular in the field of investment cooperation. At the meeting, Russia and China agreed to revise the 2006 bilateral investment agreement, which has not yet been finalized. Analyzing the meeting of the two heads of state, experts identified the areas in which bilateral cooperation will develop fastest – infrastructure, industry and finance. First of all, the sphere of interconnection of infrastructure projects is important — railways, highways, electric grids, oil and gas pipelines. Another area is cooperation in the industrial sphere. Under the conditions of export embargoes and sanctions imposed by the West, Russia intends to provide China with a more transparent and predictable business environment for Chinese companies to invest in industry, as well as for their cooperation with Russian companies. The third area should be highlighted in the field of finance – cooperation in such areas as direct settlements, reserve currencies, monetary policy, cooperation in the bond and securities markets will be widely developed here.
