At the recent meeting of finance ministers of the countries participating in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), key issues related to the development of the digital economy, energy support and strategies to accelerate economic growth in the region were discussed. This was announced by US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen at a reception at APEC. The summit started in San Francisco on Saturday and will last until November 17. This event symbolizes the end of the year of the US presidency in the organization. Yellen also noted that over the past decades, the Asia-Pacific region has significantly strengthened its position in the global economy, and the United States is striving to strengthen its ties with this key region. «This region plays an important role in global innovation, providing opportunities for economic growth. Its importance in the international arena will only increase,» Yellen stressed. The last meeting of the APEC finance ministers made it possible to consolidate progress on key priorities, including in the areas of macroeconomics and finance. Ensuring sustainable financing in various areas, including in the fight against climate change, has become one of the main priorities of politicians. Separately commenting on the development of digital assets and technologies, Yellen pointed out that due to potential risks, high-quality regulation of this area is necessary.
