Devět zemí Evropské unie pracuje na urychlení plánů na podporu průmyslu počítačových čipů v bloku a hodlá své návrhy předložit do léta, uvedl v pátek jeden z vedoucích představitelů koalice.
Koalice, která zahrnuje Itálii, Francii, Německo, Španělsko a Nizozemsko, dělá „domácí úkoly pro nový zákon o čipech“, uvedl v rozhovoru nizozemský ministr hospodářství Dirk Beljaarts s odkazem na možný druhý program financování polovodičového průmyslu ze strany EU, který by následoval po zákonu o čipech v roce 2023.
Tento zákon, který je v současné době přezkoumáván, nesplnil klíčové cíle, ale má se za to, že zabránil zhoršení situace evropského průmyslu tváří v tvář větším programům státní podpory ve Spojených státech a Číně.
Častou kritikou je, že proces, v němž státy poskytovaly finanční prostředky a Evropská komise schvalovala projekty, byl příliš pomalý.
Beljaarts uvedl, že jde o to, aby byl napodruhé cílenější.
„Musíme přidělovat finanční prostředky,“ řekl Beljaarts. „Jak soukromé, tak veřejné prostředky, abychom tento sektor popostrčili, a také abychom zajistili, že dojde k efektu prosakování a že z toho budou mít prospěch i (malé a střední) podniky.“
Uvedl, že Evropa má sice špičkové hráče v oblasti výzkumu a vývoje a vybavení, včetně mocné společnosti ASML (AS:ASML), ale nedostatky se týkají balení čipů a pokročilé výroby poté, co společnost Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) odložila plány na výstavbu špičkové továrny v Německu.
