Евросоюз предпримет ответные меры в объеме $294 млрд на ввод со стороны США пошлин на импорт автомобилей и запчастей. Представители Евросоюза считают позицию Соединенных Штатов по данному вопросу ошибочной и незаконной.

Ранее президент США Дональд Трамп предупредил, что рассматривает возможность введения пошлины в 20% на импорт автомобилей из ЕС. По поручению Трампа министр торговли США Уилбур Росс начал расследование относительно угрозы национальной безопасности со стороны ввоза автомобилей. Кроме того, будет изучена необходимость введения налога на импорт автомобилей и запчастей. Результаты расследования опубликуют в этом месяце.

Эксперты ЕС полагают, что вследствие введения новых пошлин экономике США может быть нанесен серьезный ущерб. Так, новые торговые ограничения, по предварительным оценкам, могут затронуть объем американского экспорта в размере $294 млрд, что составляет 19% от общего экспорта Соединенных Штатов в 2017 году.

Представители ЕС полагают, что данное расследование нарушает установленные правила международной торговли, что ему не хватает легитимности и фактического содержания.
