Авторитетная британская газета The Guardian сообщила, что глава правительства Великобритании Борис Джонсон готовится к «жесткому» сценарию Brexit и не планирует возобновлять переговоры с Евросоюзом.

Неназванный высокопоставленный чиновник ЕС рассказал The Guardian, что Дэвид Фрост, советник премьер-министра, на недавней встрече с европейскими дипломатами разъяснил позицию нового главы Соединенного Королевства.

Она состоит в том, что Великобритания не намерена вести переговоры и не имеет альтернативного плана действий. Кроме того, не было озвучено новых предложений по поводу проблемы ирландской границы.

Ранее Борис Джонсон неоднократно заявлял, что заключенная предыдущим правительством сделка с ЕС нежизнеспособна и призывал к выходу из ЕС без соглашения.

Достигнутое Терезой Мей соглашение предусматривало «страховочный план», согласно которому Великобритания останется в составе таможенного союза с ЕС, чтобы избежать установления жесткой границы между Ирландией и Северной Ирландией.

При этом многие британские политики, в том числе Борис Джонсон, выступают против «бэкстопа», поскольку он помешает политической и экономической независимости Великобритании.
