The head of the Federal Association of German Industry (BDI), Peter Leibinger, criticized the trade deal between the EU and the United States, calling it unfair and unprofitable for German companies. According to him, the agreement provided only a temporary respite, but is based on accepting the dictates of a stronger party. He stressed that the duties imposed would cost businesses billions of dollars and complicate economic recovery. Leibinger noted that the deal would have a negative impact on export-oriented industries in Germany, for which the United States is a key market. Although the exact consequences are still difficult to assess, he expressed concern about the future costs of the German economy. At the same time, he supported the European Commission's strategy to prevent the escalation of the conflict and recommended that companies continue to invest in the United States. Earlier, a study by the IFO institute showed that about 30% of German enterprises suspended investments in the United States, and 15% abandoned them.
