В Австралии начнется строительство второго международного аэропорта за $3,8 млрд

Власти Австралии намерены построить новый международный аэропорт в Сиднее, в районе Бэджерис-Крик. Вопрос о необходимости наличия второго аэропорта поднимался еще в 1946 году, а в 2014 было принято окончательное решение о строительстве. Стоимость проекта составит 5 миллиардов австралийских долларов ($3,8 млрд). Подобные расходы и потенциальные риски показались слишком значительными для оператора действующего Сиднейского аэропорта, компании Sydney Airport Holdings, и она отказалась от участия в проекте. 

В связи с этим власти Австралии планируют заняться инфраструктурным проектом самостоятельно, создав отвечающее за строительство государственное учреждение. Либо найти нового оператора для управления аэропортом. 9 мая будут представлены детали и особенности финансирования проекта в рамках публикации федерального бюджета страны. 

Первые рейсы нового аэропорта в Сиднее будут выполнены не ранее 2025 года. Особенностью новой воздушной гавани станет возможность осуществления ночных полетов, так как аэропорт будет расположен вдали от населенных пунктов.
